BAND CAMP 2023
DATES: July 17 - 21
Band Camp is located at YMCA Kimball Camp https://kimballcamp.com/ located in Reading, MI
Report to the band room at 8:00 a.m. on July 17th. ***Leaders, Percussion, Guard report at 7:30***
Buses will leave LHS at 10:00 a.m. on July 17th for Kimball Camp.
We will return approximately 3:00 on July 21st for a final rehearsal and dinner.
Splitter Review is July 21st at 6:00 p.m. Please bring your family and friends and watch our band camp performance at the LHS Varsity Field!
Pre Camp: July 11 & 12 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
New members and leadership will report both days. Returning members will report on July 12th only.
Items to bring: instrument, folio, lyre, wear appropriate marching clothes (you will be active and in the sun!), sunscreen, inhalers if prescribed, tennis shoes, hat, water/water bottle, and pencil.
Conditioning: Prepare your body for the physical component of camp. Strengthen your core with planks, sit ups, crunches; Arm strength with free weights and triceps dips; Endurance with running; Leg Strength with squats, calf raises. These are just a few exercises, but if your first inkling of physical movement is July 17th you will be one sore marcher! You do not have to be an elite athlete, but you do need to prepare your muscles to reduce risk of injury. Do your research on any exercises or check with your doctor.
Band Camp Spirit Days:
(optional for students, but FUN to participate in!)
Monday: Tourist Day
Tuesday: Section Day
Wednesday: Tie-dye Day
Thursday: Twin+ Day (find a group to dress like each other)
Friday: Blue/Grey Day
Cost:
$335 (includes consumable uniform pieces) Cost to attend camp should NOT be a reason to not attend. Please email Ms. Schwegler with financial needs and fill out the scholarship form below. There are also opportunities to raise funds throughout the year to help with travel costs. Payments can be check (Lincoln Band Boosters), cash, or CC via Charms. It is preferred that camp is paid prior to departure, HOWEVER, the boosters will allow families to pay on a schedule that works best for their family.
