Hello Parents!
With cold season quickly approaching we could use Kleenex donations. Clorox wipes and/or spray cleaner and paper towels would be awesome as well. We have enough hand sanitizer to date. These supplies will help keep germs at bay and your student healthy. Thank you and also to families that have sent in supplies to the band office! Dear Parents,
Below is information from one of the companies you can purchase Varsity jackets for your student. Members of the band do earn a letter (freshmen) and patches (sophomore, junior and pep band) for their jackets. Great gift idea for the holidays! Balfour Varsity Jacket Rep will be in front of the East Gym on Tuesday, October 29th during lunches and 5:00-7:00 pm for fittings and orders. $75 down payment. Order forms can be located in the band room. Good Morning Everyone, This week is our last regular home football game and we will be performing an all new show with music chosen by the class of 2014. We will take time during halftime to introduce all of our seniors and thank them for many years of performing with the Lincoln Bands. Please come and join us in recognizing these fine young people! We have a number of sectionals (past and yet to come) scheduled at various times. If your son/daughter has a conflict with the sectional time, please have them arrange for an alternate plan (see Ms. W) and document their time so as not to miss points toward their grade. Also, power school grades are almost up to date. Please check for your student's progress. The bonfire this Friday is being hosted by our senior drum major, Rachel Simonds. Address will be available in the band room. Uniform fitting/refitting continues on Weds. night before rehearsal, from 5-6 pm. This is our last regularly scheduled Weds. rehearsal (6-9pm). Hopefully I won't jinx the very successful football team (5-1)by saying, should we make the playoffs (one more win is necessary) we will schedule another rehearsal, probably after school on Weds. Oct. 30, and the game would likely be Nov. 1. We can't make final plans until the end of the season on Oct. 25, but please check your calendars for those dates and pencil us in. Our Fall Concert is next Tuesday, Oct. 15 in the PAC. Please check the website for information about cheesecake sales and UM concessions - it appears from the list in the band room that we need more volunteers for the next game on Oct. 19. Thanks to all who have helped so far this season! Looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming performances! Cheryl Hello Parents and Students!
We are in need of 15 more volunteers for this Saturday's U of M game. To date we have averaged $1000+ per game! That is fantastic! It has been possible because the concession stands have been well staffed. There is a penalty fee for not meeting the quota of volunteers which of course is a huge set back to balancing our operating expenses. Please email Ann Murphy at [email protected] or fill out a volunteer form on the band web site. Please see the original email below for more details. Thank you for all that you do in supporting the band students! Leslie Yamaha is running a contest to potentially earn $20,000 for the classroom that receives the most "votes". You have to complete quests that they have set up on their website to earn points for our school. You also earn coins to cash in for prizes along the way. It is fun, educational and informative. Currently I have us ranked 212 and could use your help. Contest runs until Nov. 16 and every week there are new quests.
Click on Quest for Music Education Click the red tab "Begin Process". Enter our school code: Your assigned Unique code is Hs5D Thank you!!!! Hello Parents, We are in need of a few supplies for the band room. We could use Kleenex, Clorox wipes and/or spray and paper towels. These supplies will help keep germs at a bay and students healthy. Thank you in advance for your donation! Good Morning Parents and Students, It's Homecoming week! Let the festivities begin! First, congratulations to the band on the outstanding performance last Tuesday at the Belleville Halftime Review. We appreciate all of the extra effort that many of you made to get our student athletes there for the performance and thank you to the adults that went with us on the trip. The students enjoyed watching the recording that we received that was taken from the top of the press box. Please remember that if your son or daughter has to miss a performance other than for illness, we require advance notice in writing for that to be an excused absence so that their make up assignment can receive full credit. In the case of illness or emergency, we would appreciate an email whenever that is possible and a note upon return to school. This Friday will be a very busy "blue polo" band day. During school we will tour the elementaries and MS as well as perform at the Pep Assembly. The parade is at 5 pm along Splitter Drive. If there are parents who could shuttle students to the parade from the band room from about 4:15-4:45, it would be a huge help and significantly reduce their fatigue! Let me know if you can help. Also, someone is needed to look after the band room from after school until4:30 for those students who must stay through. Please check the website for further updates on concessions at UM and the status of our halftime refreshments. Thank you for all you do to support the Lincoln Bands! Cheryl Good Morning Band Families,
Congratulations to the students who performed Friday night. You pulled off an amazing performance with so little time to prepare. The crowd was entertained and you should be proud of yourselves. Parents, as the weather gets colder, you can help your son or daughter by bringing in and taking out their coats, hats, blankets, etc. The students are not allowed to carry them in or out, but may use them during time in the stands to stay more comfortable. A reminder that no food or drink, (other than water that we provide) is allowed except during the 3rd quarter.
Tuesday night (tomorrow) is the Belleville Halftime Review and we will be meeting at school at 5:30pm and returning at approximately 9:30pm. Please help your student make arrangements for timely transportation to and from school. We may still need a couple of chaperones to ride the bus (there are complimentary tickets) to and from Belleville. Please contact Rob Levitt or check the website for further information. Join us at Belleville, if you are able, for a great night of area marching band performances!
****ATTENTION!!! Due to the Belleville event Tues, there will be NO WEDNESDAYREHEARSAL this week. We will resume our normal Weds. night schedule Sept. 25!
Our next event is Homecoming, on September 27, which includes a day of festivities, a parade at 5 pm and our usual performance at the game. Any of you who are band alums, come and join the alumni band for 2 songs at halftime!
Please continue to use our new website for further updates on the calendar, uniforms, UM concessions, volunteers, etc. www.lincolnhighschoolbands.weebly.com
