What if I cannot afford to attend band camp or a trip?
Please request a scholarship in writing to the band directors. Money should not be a factor in determining if you can attend band camp or a trip. Scholarships do not cover the entire cost of the trip.
What is expected of me if I receive a scholarship?
We ask that you contribute back by participating in a general fundraiser.
What is the best way to communicate to the directors?
Email is the best form of communication. It is much easier to respond back to you at any given hour. :)
Why are general fundraisers so important?
The general booster fund covers many aspects in supporting a band program. The money is used to replace supplies, uniform parts, awards, scholarships, refreshments, equipment, water, and anything else that the band may use. This translates to thousands of dollars annually. This is a great setting for bonding and learning to contribute back to your organization.
What if I have a conflict with a performance or rehearsal?
We require two weeks notice for an absence to be excused for full credit in a make up assignment. Please check your calendars on a regular basis. An athletic conflict can always be compromised!
How can I help with the band?
You can volunteer in fundraising efforts, contribute classroom supplies, donate monetarily, etc. Please email a booster officer or director if you have any ideas.
How can I support my child in music?
Encourage your student to practice, participate in optional activities, attend performances and band activities with your student. Listen to your student practice. Here is a great article about "What Parents Should Say as Their Kids Perform" by Tim Elmore
How do I become a band booster?
Great news! You are automatically a booster by your child being a member of the Lincoln Band program. Meetings are the second Monday each month, unless otherwise noted.
