Yamaha is running a contest to potentially earn $20,000 for the classroom that receives the most "votes". You have to complete quests that they have set up on their website to earn points for our school. You also earn coins to cash in for prizes along the way. It is fun, educational and informative. Currently I have us ranked 212 and could use your help. Contest runs until Nov. 16 and every week there are new quests.

Hello Parents, We are in need of a few supplies for the band room. We could use Kleenex, Clorox wipes and/or spray and paper towels. These supplies will help keep germs at a bay and students healthy. Thank you in advance for your donation! Good Morning Parents and Students, It's Homecoming week! Let the festivities begin! First, congratulations to the band on the outstanding performance last Tuesday at the Belleville Halftime Review. We appreciate all of the extra effort that many of you made to get our student athletes there for the performance and thank you to the adults that went with us on the trip. The students enjoyed watching the recording that we received that was taken from the top of the press box. Please remember that if your son or daughter has to miss a performance other than for illness, we require advance notice in writing for that to be an excused absence so that their make up assignment can receive full credit. In the case of illness or emergency, we would appreciate an email whenever that is possible and a note upon return to school. This Friday will be a very busy "blue polo" band day. During school we will tour the elementaries and MS as well as perform at the Pep Assembly. The parade is at 5 pm along Splitter Drive. If there are parents who could shuttle students to the parade from the band room from about 4:15-4:45, it would be a huge help and significantly reduce their fatigue! Let me know if you can help. Also, someone is needed to look after the band room from after school until4:30 for those students who must stay through. Please check the website for further updates on concessions at UM and the status of our halftime refreshments. Thank you for all you do to support the Lincoln Bands! Cheryl Good Morning Band Families,
Congratulations to the students who performed Friday night. You pulled off an amazing performance with so little time to prepare. The crowd was entertained and you should be proud of yourselves. Parents, as the weather gets colder, you can help your son or daughter by bringing in and taking out their coats, hats, blankets, etc. The students are not allowed to carry them in or out, but may use them during time in the stands to stay more comfortable. A reminder that no food or drink, (other than water that we provide) is allowed except during the 3rd quarter.
Tuesday night (tomorrow) is the Belleville Halftime Review and we will be meeting at school at 5:30pm and returning at approximately 9:30pm. Please help your student make arrangements for timely transportation to and from school. We may still need a couple of chaperones to ride the bus (there are complimentary tickets) to and from Belleville. Please contact Rob Levitt or check the website for further information. Join us at Belleville, if you are able, for a great night of area marching band performances!
****ATTENTION!!! Due to the Belleville event Tues, there will be NO WEDNESDAYREHEARSAL this week. We will resume our normal Weds. night schedule Sept. 25!
Our next event is Homecoming, on September 27, which includes a day of festivities, a parade at 5 pm and our usual performance at the game. Any of you who are band alums, come and join the alumni band for 2 songs at halftime!
Please continue to use our new website for further updates on the calendar, uniforms, UM concessions, volunteers, etc. www.lincolnhighschoolbands.weebly.com
Have a great week! Cheryl If you go to Gene Butman Ford Today Wednesday the 11th or TomorrowThursday the 12th, and let them know you are there for Lincoln Football / Band / Cheer Drive event they will still honor the $20.00 per Household for every Free Test Drive. This means that if 1 Parent, Gaurdian or Friendover 18 for every student that participates in BAND, FOOTBALL, OR CHEER could take 15 minutes and stop by "GENE BUTMAN FORD" on Washtenaw Ave and do the Drive we still could reach our "GOAL" of 300 Drivers for $6,000.00. Good Morning Everyone,
It is great to be back and it was wonderful to see so many of you at last weekend's events. I was very pleased with the performance at the game Friday night - we are fortunate to have such hard working students in our bands! The report from Ann and the UM concessions was very positive and they survived the largest crowd in college football! It was good to see parents taking time from their busy schedule to come to the booster meeting last night. Remember, all are welcome to attend (2nd Monday of each month) the meetings and to quote our treasurer "It's the best way to know what's going on!"
Drive one 4 your school was Saturday and the offer has been extended by Tom Butmanuntil Friday. Stop by Gene Butman Ford (2105 Washtenaw) fill out the survey and drive a car! Athletics and band will share $20 per driver. Thanks to our pep band who came and provided entertainment on Saturday - it was a fun event.
Please check the website for info regarding uniform fittings and refits. The next opportunity is this Weds (tomorrow).
The Belleville Halftime Review is next week on Tues. It is a wonderful opportunity to see our students and bands from other schools perform. See the website for more details and opportunity to chaperone this event (we will have free tickets for our chaperones!).
The full school year calendar of events is available on the website, should you need to look ahead.

Thank you for all of your support during this very busy start to our school year. BTW - the cookies last Friday were awesome - thank you so much! Cheryl A great BIG thank you to those who donated cookies for last Friday's game!!! We had plenty for the night and have a generous start for this Friday! Thank you also to Pam Morey, Shere Zehel, Sally Harmych and Stacey Raines for volunteering their time to pass out the water & cookies! A special thank you to Pam Morey who will be making sure that we have nut/gluten/dairy free cookies/treats at each game for students who have allergies! I just love our band family!!! :)
For the 9/13 game:
Volunteers can meet me at the far side of the bleachers at 6:15pm. Water cups will need to be filled after the pre-game show and again after the half-time show. The cookies will be distributed after the half time show during third quarter when the students get their break. Please let me know if you are able to help with donations or by volunteering. My contact info is listed below. Thanks!!!! Amy Wilhelm (734) 740-3219 [email protected] Thank you in advance for helping!!!! :) We were well below the goal of 300 drivers. Tom Butman has agreed to extend our fundraiser through Friday 9/13. We need about 100 more drivers. All you need to do is go to the Gene Butman Ford dealership at 2105 Washtenaw Ave. and test drive any vehicle and fill out the brief survey before Friday. If we can get about another 100 surveys, we can hit the maximum! Drivers must be 18+ and limit one driver per household.
There are a dozen music stands on the way to the band room as a result of generous donations from our parents and from people that support our program from around the country. The web site, Donorschoose.org, is an online teacher charity as a means to raise money for classroom supplies. The music stands are the third project that has been fully funded from donations. This means that we have gained valuable supplies/equipment for our classroom that further enhances our learning and performing experience when the budget cannot support these costs. You can check out the projects by clicking here.
I will continue to post projects through this wonderful organization. All I ask is that you share the project with your friends and family via email or other social media. I also try to do these projects when matching donations are in place. All donations are tax deductible! Thank you for your continued support for our students and music program! Good Evening Parents, Here is my first weekly update for the year! First and foremost I want you to know that I view it a privilege to have the opportunity to work with your sons and daughters. I am so proud of all that they have accomplished, even before the official start of school. They did a great job Friday night at Lincoln's home opener and are to be commended for their efforts. We have several activities this week which are included in the curriculum as graded assignments and it is critical that the students are in attendance and participating as fully as possible. Tomorrow, Wednesday, from 6-9p.m. is our weekly rehearsal, and the football game and warm up rehearsal on Friday are all required events. This week there is no need for additional sectional work, since we are working on the music that we learned at camp. Next week the various sections will be scheduling a sectional practice and students will receive points toward their grade for attending. We have three weeks of home games in a row and that places significant demands on our learning! Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to work at the UM football games. Please check Ann's emails for further details. This Saturday we are in partnership with the Athletic Department in a fun fundraiser. Please come and test drive a new Ford vehicle at the HS. No obligations, but we need lots of adult driver volunteers to reach our goal. Please check with your student regarding the publicity cards that they received in class today. Also a reminder about the yard sign opportunity from Ann and the need for cookies from Amy (both emails). Check the website regarding a leadership workshop opportunity for our students with Dr. Tim. I'm looking forward to the days ahead and appreciate all of the support I am receiving from students, parents and school staff. Please remember to use this email address for band concerns or questions (I don't have access to the band room voice mail yet!) and I hope to see many of you at our upcoming performances.
